I don’t know about you guys, but I find it quite hard to unwind after a day at work and school runs, cooking dinner and all the rest of it. I find myself at bedtime mentally churning through my to-do list for the next day. But recently I’ve been trying something new to unwind after work.
The fab website plays.org have a huge range of games which are great to use to relax with. There are 100s of games to choose from, and they’re constantly adding games so there’s always something new to distract you. It’s sort of like mindfulness, I guess. Here are five games I’m loving during downtime at the moment.
Colorush
Colorush is sort of like solving your own maze. Move bumpers around to guide the coloured paint (I assume it’s paint) to the circle. Of course the levels get harder and harder, but I found this game wildly addictive and that I totally zoned out of the humdrum of daily life when I was playing it.
Endless Siege
Despite our lives sometimes feeling like an endless siege, we found this game was also a great break. The strategy game sees you setting up weapons on a grid to try to blast ‘enemies’. Great for letting out some pent up rage! It looks totally non violent when you’re playing it, and is really exciting. Once you’ve set the game up, it’s so fun to see whether you can take down the little beasts that walk into your maze.
Tetra Blocks
How’s this for a throwback? Another addictive came, Tetra Blocks is inspired by Tetris. You have to fit the blocks together to create rows, which then disappear. The aim of the game is to make as many rows as you can keep the screen clear. We loved playing this game – it totally stands the test of time! Make sure you set yourself up in a comfortable area of the house and get playing as this game is addictive!
LEGO City Adventures Build and Protect
OK, I hold my hands up. I got totally sucked into this game. It’s an official LEGO City game (so kids will love it too), based on one of my favourite games Sim City. Dig for LEGO and then build a city to make money. We found there was lots of different things to do in this game to keep us engaged and distracted, and we could easily lose a whole evening in this one.
Space Adventure Pinball
If you’re a fan of arcade games, then this pinball adventure will be right up your street. Just used the keys on the keyboard to bat the ball up and keep it in play. I was actually quite rubbish at this, but had fun none the less and definitely forgot my daily woes.
I hope you found this blog post useful? What ways to you like to relax? Are you a fan of gaming too? We would love to know via the comments below…
