Why Future You Deserves Better than Car Stress

Have you ever dealt with a dodgy car in your lifetime? Well, if you haven’t considered yourself lucky because it’s one of the most terrible stress-inducing things you could ever deal with, especially when you’re in a financially tight situation where you can’t just freely buy a new car. While sure, everyone knows there’s some really important criteria when buying a car, sometimes, you don’t have the money to tick every box. Instead, you just have to make do until you can get a new car.

But anyway, a bad car takes a totally normal day and turns it into a low-level stress situation before breakfast’s even finished. Like, it’s meant to be simple, get in, drive, arrive, done. But instead, it’s listening for noises that weren’t there last week, noticing a vibration that feels new, watching the fuel gauge drop faster than it should, and doing that annoying little mental checklist of, okay, is this the day it finally decides to be difficult. You get the idea, it’s stress-inducing.

But you can’t put yourself through that for long; it’s going to get to the point where you’ll absolutely need a new car.

Is the Engine Light Causing a Lot of Stress?

Okay, it would basically do that for anyone here, but do you get that pit in your stomach? Do you get that horrible feeling of dread? Because it never pops up when there’s loads of time and nothing going on, right? It’s always on a day when errands are stacked, or when the commute matters, or when someone else is waiting. So then it’s the whole spiral, okay, is it a loose cap, is it something expensive, is it safe to drive, is it going to get worse if it’s ignored? And yeah, sure, sometimes the car still runs “fine,” but the brain doesn’t accept fine.

Future Proofing Starts with Calm Decisions

Future you deserves to have a good car, future you deserves not have a car that causes doom and gloom on a daily basis. Future you needs to have a car that’s future-proof, and it’s going to start off with calm decision-making rather than beingin some giant panic. It’s the basic things, like staying away from cars that are trendy, cars just for aesthetics, cars with a suspiciously low price tag. When it comes to cars for sale, it’s probably going to be best to buy from a dealership, in that case, there’s a warranty, you can ask questions, it lowers the chance of someone shady selling something to you, and sometimes there’s favourable finance options too if you need that.

You Don’t Need those “What If” Thoughts

The last thing you want is to get behind the wheel and have a bunch of what-if thoughts of the car breaking down, something coming loose, the car needing another tune-up, or where it feels like you’re being bankrupt. Again, like what was mentioned, it’s that doom and gloom feeling, it’s that anxiety, it’s those very realistic thoughts. Which is why it gets to the point where you absolutely need a better car. You deserve to have a cat that doesn’t stress you out; you owe that to yourself once you’re able to afford it.
