So it’s another week, which means it’s time to tick down some more reasons you should be visiting Knott’s Berry Farm in the near future. This week, along with 15 more reasons to visit the park, the Guide will have the opportunity to do a spectacular giveaway in advance of the coming year. But more on that a bit at the end. In the meantime, we have another 15 to get too. So welcome back to part five of our Knott’s Berry Farm celebration of 100 years. It’s One Hundred Reasons to Visit Knott’s Berry Farm Part 5.
100 Reasons To Visit Knott’s Berry Farm Part 5 #61-75
Two weeks ago we focused on Merry Farm which is still going on right now. So many beautiful things going on there. Last week we spent time covering Independence Hall, Soak City, and the Peanut’s Festival. This week we will be focused on Knott’s Scary Farm and all the creepy and amazing things they have going on there during Halloween time. So many scares. So little time. With that in mind, let’s kick it off with number 61.
61) Calico Ghost Town
Yes, Knott’s Scary Farm does stuff throughout the park. But there is nothing like the opening of Knott’s Scary Farm as the ghosts and ghouls parade out of Ghost Town through the maddening crowd. Everyone is so packed in the entrance and yet these ghosts seem to easily slip their way through the crowds to the delight and horror of many standing by. You have to love the Ghost Town Ghosts.
62) Sarah Marshall, Witch Of Calico
She’s a celebration of everything Knott’s Scary Farm. Once upon a time, she was the original witch of calico being drug through the streets and straight up to the scaffolds, to the shock and horror of the crowds nearby. At first, you didn’t realize she was the Witch of Calico. Then she revealed herself and cursed all those around her. Now, she is back in her very own maze. You thought you had escaped her treachery. But now she curses all those around her and you are left to suffer her wrath. It’s great, horrific fun.
63) The Infected Maze
I know here I am writing about something which will not return. Or at least not for another several years. But I have to admit I loved the participation in this maze. Going through a maze of a zombie attack with a laser gun has to be one of the most fun things I have done at a Halloween horror park. I loved the experience of picking off zombies and seeing if I could beat my high score each time. While it will not be returning next year, you can still celebrate it as Knott’s will be releasing a set of commemorative pins. And the Infected Maze will be in the First Set.
64) Elvira Mistress of the Dark
Another of those sad things which will not be returning to Knott’s Scary Farm, unless she returns as a ghost someday. But she had quite the run as the master of ceremonies in the Charles M. Schulz theater. Shaking her groove thing and flaunting what she’s got, you gotta love her creepy sense of style and grace, if not her wit. It was such a fun show back there, they kept bringing her back year after year. And it seemed she never aged a day. She will be truly missed.
65) Puppet Up Uncensored
They did have a brief year after Elvira where they tried this improv set. I admit it didn’t work very well, unfortunately. It just never seemed to have the life Elvira had (even if she were celebrating the dead). But never you fear. Knott’s found an amazing replacement for Elvira. It’s Puppet Up Uncensored put on by those lovable Brian Henson Muppeteers. I do have a word of caution though. It is Uncensored, in the strictest sense of the word. They are willing to take those puppets in whatever crazy direction they feel like. You will be rolling out of your seat laughing if you get the chance. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
66) The Hanging
I suppose I could have lumped this in with Sarah Marshall. But it wouldn’t have been fair. Because this show has gone far beyond that of Sarah Marshall. It has taken on and roasted all of the pop culture icons of the day. From Freddy Krueger to Roseanne to Logan Paul, they get them all. And even as pop culture has become more fragmented, they still seem to pick the touchstone people and moments which all the audience will appreciate seeing hanged. And thankfully this year they got to prove that Jeffrey Epstein didn’t kill himself. Ok . . . maybe not prove.
67) Conjure Magic Show
Not the movie, but still so much fun and another of the great reasons to visit Knott’s Berry Farm. When you go to Knott’s during scary farm, you need to head over the Birdcage Theater and check out some of the amazing magicians they have on hand. Impressive sleight of hand and parlor tricks abound. Knott’s know how to conjure up good fun for Scary Farm.
68) The Monster Burger
When it comes to themed good, Knott’s blends the delicious with creative imagination and execution. It’s a simple patty with cheese and spicy sausages, lettuce, tomato, pickles, spicy mayo, and a bun dipped in squid ink. Combine that with a side of fries and you have the perfect way to curb your monster appetite during Scary Farm. Of course, it is a bit spicy, so it’s not for the food faint of heart.
69) The Knott’s Scary Farm Boo-fet
This is one of the tastiest reasons to visit Knott’s Berry Farm during Scary Farm. If you are of the ilk to avoid some of the crowds and want to get your fill of Knott’s Scary Farm a little sooner than the average visitor, making your way to the Boo-fet is the way to go. You get to have some delicious treats, interact with some of the monsters building up an appetite to scare the pants off you and get some great shots with them before entering the park. It’s the perfect way to get your whole Knott’s Scary Farm experience. And being let in a half hour early to enjoy some of the mazes beforehand gives you so much more freedom to enjoy your chills and thrills throughout the night at a more leisurely pace.
70) The Awake the Dead Dance Party
Going on Nightly at the Fiesta Village, get your own groove thing on and enjoy some frighteningly good Halloween music to dance to. You will be joined some of those Day of the Dead dancers and spirits of all kinds who cannot help but get their own monster mash celebration there. I personally love the Go-Go like Day of the Dead Dancers and dancing to thriller, even if I’m not very good at it.
71) The Knott’s Scary Farm Mazes
I know I already talked about one maze and briefly alluded to another. But I was paying homage to one of my favorite mazes and discussing a larger character involved with Knott’s Scary Farm since it’s inception. As for the rest, they are amazing feats of engineering and ingenuity and great reasons to visit Knott’s Berry Farm every year. I could go over every single one of them. But I would suggest you take a look at my Scary Farm post this year to get a feel for what they do. Every year they retire a couple of the older mazes and give us some new ones to appreciate. This means the Knott’s Scary Farm creative team works all year round to be able to give you some amazing entertainment and scares in those mazes.
Every one of the mazes has interaction, incredible costumes, and amazing technological wonders which make the Scary Farm time such a thrill. And they have to take all those things down almost every day for the kids and put them back the next night. I marvel at everything they do.
72) The Knott’s Scary Farm Scare Zones
I did talk about the Ghost Town Scare Zone, which is the original scare zone. So it comes with its own unique history. The rest of the scare zones are more modern inventions but they are equally creative and fun. I love the Forsaken Lake Scare Zone with all of those bayou creatures coming out of the swamps to terrify and chill and maybe have a funeral procession or two. You will just have to keep your eye out. The same thing goes for Sleepy Hollow. It’s a town where the Pumpkin Eater roams as well as ghouls and witches to delight all. And they also have a nightly performance you won’t want to miss. Finally, there is Carnevil, a frightening mix of carnival freaks and clowns who would leave anyone with ghoulish nightmares for years to come. If you love your scary clowns, you need to visit them.
73) The Creepy Creatures of Knott’s Spooky Farm
Ok. This isn’t exactly Scary Farm. And I really meant to give Spooky Farm it’s own due. But the creepy creatures of Spooky farm could really belong to either park as they are some of the most terrifying spiders, snakes, rats, and skeleton horses you will ever see. And yet we love them all so much and keep coming back. What’s wrong with us? You will want to check them out as well, if only from a distance.
74) Knott’s Scary Farm Art
If you head back to the back of the park next to the bumper cars and where the new Beary Tales are about to be installed, during Halloween they have an amazing art show in the back. Check out some of the most incredible and terrifying art you will ever see. It’s ghostly weddings, terrifying spooks and ghastly creatures all on display. And it’s really quite unique as every artist has their own craft they use to make this amazing and terrifying art.
75) Knott’s Scary Farm Picture Spots
For the Instagrammer in all of us, Knott’s sets up some incredible picture locations for you to enjoy during Scary Farm and one of the great reasons to visit Knott’s Berry Farm. Between some great picture spots to take for the themed rides or some other hauntingly good venues, you will want to have your camera out while you can. They will be there both during the day or at night. So if you need to get a more daylit shot, you can always arrive during the day to get those special pictures.
